Water's Edge was inspired by a quiet October morning along the Lake Michigan shoreline just north of Grand Haven. Record-high water levels had dramatically reshaped the coast, creating steep sand bluffs, exposed tree roots, and a shoreline that was constantly changing.

After searching for a safe way down to the beach, I spent the morning walking alone with my camera, discovering beauty in a landscape transformed by nature. Before making my way to the water, one graceful tree overlooking Lake Michigan stopped me in my tracks. Its quiet strength and elegant form became the inspiration for this painting.

Rather than focusing on the erosion, I chose to celebrate what remained—strength, resilience, and the timeless beauty of Michigan's shoreline.

Painted in my signature contemporary impressionist style, Water's Edge invites the viewer to pause, breathe, and experience the peaceful spirit of Lake Michigan.
