Simple Pleasures

Simple Pleasures is a monumental three-panel original oil painting celebrating the changing beauty of Michigan’s four seasons.

Created as a triptych, the three individual canvases come together to form an expansive composition measuring approximately 5.5 feet high × 12 feet wide overall.

The landscape moves through the year as one continuous scene — from the quiet evergreens of winter to spring trillium, colorful summer wildflowers and the brilliant warmth of autumn. Rather than separating the seasons, they transition across the three canvases, creating a visual journey through nature and time.

Painted in Christi Dreese’s contemporary impressionist style, expressive brushwork, rich color and glimpses of dark underpainting give the landscape movement and depth. Colored foil accents are incorporated throughout the foliage, catching and reflecting light as the viewer moves past the artwork and adding another dimension to the painted surface.

Originally exhibited during ArtPrize at the DeVos Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Simple Pleasures was created as an immersive statement piece — one meant to be experienced from across a room as well as up close.

Its extraordinary scale makes it particularly well suited for a large residential space, corporate collection, healthcare environment, hospitality setting or other significant architectural space.

Shipping, Delivery & Installation

Because Simple Pleasures is a large-scale triptych, shipping and delivery arrangements will depend on the destination and installation requirements.

The artwork consists of three separate canvases that combine to create the complete 12-foot composition.

For shipping, the canvases will be carefully rolled for safe and economical transport. They can easily be professionally restretched onto stretcher bars by a local frame shop upon arrival.

About the Artist

Christi Dreese is a Michigan contemporary impressionist artist whose paintings are inspired by the landscapes, shorelines and natural beauty of the Great Lakes region. Her distinctive painting style combines expressive brushwork, rich color and glimpses of dark underpainting to create landscapes filled with movement, depth and light.

Each original Dreese painting is created individually in the artist’s Michigan studio and is one of a kind.
