Studio Story

Rooted in Calm was inspired by a day spent exploring the state park in St. Joseph, Michigan.

I was wandering around with my camera, looking for views, when this clump of trees caught my attention. I loved the way they stood together above the shoreline, almost like they were watching over the lake.

There was something grounding about that scene—the strong trunks, the open water beyond them, and the quiet feeling of simply being there with nowhere else to be.

Sometimes the most peaceful places aren’t the dramatic ones. They’re the little views you happen upon while wandering.

That feeling of being grounded, still, and connected to the landscape is what I wanted to capture in Rooted in Calm.
