Studio Story

Peace of Mind Is Found at the Lake began with one of those days that becomes memorable without really being planned.

After delivering artwork in Harbor Springs, my daughter Kaelyn and I decided to take the long way home. We drove the Tunnel of Trees, stopped at the Good Hart General Store, wandered through Cross Village and eventually found ourselves at Sturgeon Bay, where windsurfers were moving across Lake Michigan.

It was one of those beautiful Michigan days spent exploring with nowhere we particularly needed to be.

Those are often the moments I return to in my paintings—the places and memories where, for a little while, time seems to slow.
