Studio Story

A Long Walk Along the Beach was inspired by a day spent exploring the shoreline near Empire, Michigan.

I wandered down a quiet private road, curious to see where it might lead. Through an opening in the trees, I caught a glimpse of Lake Michigan with the Sleeping Bear Dunes rising in the distance.

I love moments like this—the unexpected views you find when you take the time to wander a little farther and explore somewhere new.

This painting holds onto that discovery: the trees opening to the water, the distant dunes, and the feeling of having stumbled upon a beautiful view almost by accident.

Sometimes the best places are the ones you weren't looking for.
