Inside the Studio: My Journey as a Professional Artist
Art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember.
From childhood art classes to studying painting and business in college, I always knew I was meant to create. What I didn’t fully realize at the time was how that passion would grow into not only a career—but a business and a way of life.
Today, I want to take you inside my studio and share a little more about that journey.
🎨 Where It All Began
Growing up, I was always drawn to art. It was never just a hobby—it was something that felt natural and necessary. I continued to pursue it through school and eventually earned a degree in art along with a business major.
Looking back, that combination shaped everything I do today.
While creativity is at the heart of my work, understanding the business side of art has allowed me to build a sustainable career doing what I love.
🖼️ More Than Just Painting
Being a professional artist is about more than creating beautiful work.
It’s about:
- Showing up consistently
- Learning how to present your work
- Building relationships with collectors and galleries
- Adapting to new opportunities and platforms
My background in custom framing also gave me a deeper understanding of how art lives in a space—how it can transform a room and become part of someone’s everyday life.
🌊 Inspired by the Lakeshore
Much of my work is inspired by the beauty of Lake Michigan.
The movement of the water, the changing light, and the quiet moments along the shoreline all influence my paintings. As a contemporary impressionist, I focus less on perfect detail and more on capturing a feeling—something that brings a sense of peace, joy, and connection.
🎥 A Look Inside the Studio
I recently shared a video where I talk more about my journey and what it really looks like behind the scenes as an artist.

Feel free to leave a comment or send a message—your questions may even be featured in an upcoming studio video.
✨ Final Thoughts
The path of an artist isn’t always straightforward, but it’s deeply rewarding.
For me, it’s about creating work that not only reflects the beauty I see around me—but also brings that same sense of light and joy into the lives of others.
