Backroom Deals

My backroom is filled with excess picture frame moulding.  Stacks and stacks that I don’t have the heart to throw away.  I try to keep up with the piles but it seems to be an endless battle.  A good sign I’m sure!  If you have any small photos, original art, prints, you name it, stop in and ask about any excess supplies I might have for a quality budget frame.  Our deals range anywhere from $15 to $50.

Home Furnishings

Custom framing is an inegral part of decorating a home or business. In fact, when you buy quality custom framing, it is like purchasing furniture for your walls. Most people allow the style and color scheme of their rooms to dictate the framed art that goes in them. For those who are a bit more adventurous, they enjoy creating their own eclectic style by taking a few risks. You can not mix and match just anything and be successful, but it is definitely possible to mix it up more than you may be doing right now.

When selecting art and framing, your number one goal should be to find something you love. Do not settle for art simply because it matches your color scheme. It the colors do ccordinate, that’s OK, but it really should match too well because you want it to stand out so it becomes a special accent in the room.

The custom framing selected for art can vary a lot depending on the decor. Any piece of art can be framed many different ways as you see in the examples here. One of those ways is bound to work better with your room than another. Framing serves as a transition between the art and room to help the art looks its best in its situation. Just remember, quality framing can last for generations so make sure it looks great with the art.

The Art of Gifting

The next time you need the perfect gift, consider custom framing a piece of art, a special photo, or a memento. Flowers last a few days, a nice dinner lasts a couple hours, but frames can last a lifetime. Because so many things can be custom framed,  you can easily come up with a unique gift for every occasion. Here are some ideas to get your own thoughts flowing.

ANNIVERSARIES or VALENTINE’S DAY
Frame a portrait of yourself or with your significant other.
If the two of you have been on a recent trip, frame a special
memory, like the Aboriginal painting shown below.

THE BIRTH of a BABY
When someone has a baby, a great way to celebrate the
occasion is with a frame to insert pictures in, frame the birth
announcement, or ask your local framer if they can cut out
the baby’s name in a mat.

GRADUATIONS
A graduate will generally appreciate having their diploma
custom framed after working all those years to get it! For
those who were involved in school activities, they may also
enjoy a shadowbox filled with their school memories. Of
course their graduation portrait can be framed as well.

WEDDINGS
Framed wedding memorabilia makes a great gift for the bride
and groom or a treasue for their parents. Wedding pictures,
invitations and flowers are all special keepsakes.

BIRTHDAYS or JUST BECAUSE DAYS
We all have different tastes and interests. Think of something
to frame that will mean a lot to the person you plan to give it to.
Consider a small quilt or painting you made for them. Everyone
can use a framed mirror and you can frame it to suit a specific
room decor. If you are undecided, go to your local frame shop
and purchase a gift certificate.

         GIVE YOURSELF A GIFT!
From time to time we all deserve to purchase something for
ourselves. You may have a special keepsake you have been
saving that would look perfect in a nice frame. Perhaps you need
to find a great piece of art to complete a newly decorated room.
